This simple little craft is easy for your preschooler, requires almost no prep time, and uses materials that your probably have on hand!

Materials
Scissors
Black construction paper
Contact paper
Scraps of construction paper in many colors
Plastic coat hanger (optional)
Hole punch (optional)
Invisible thread (optional)
Blue crepe paper (optional)
Scotch tape (optional)
Directions
Cut a simple fish shape out of black construction paper. Then, cut out the inside, leaving a thin strip of a border. Place the outlines on the sticky side of a sheet of contact paper.
Have your child place scraps of paper inside the fish outlines. Encourage them to fill all the space, and to try not to let the colored scraps go outside the edge of the black outline.
Place another piece of contact paper on top, press firmly, and cut out your fish. Easy!
Lena played with these little fishes for a while and then decided that she wanted to make an ocean for them. So we did!
I gathered a coat hanger, invisible thread, a hole punch, blue crepe paper, and tape.
First I punched a hole in each fish, and used invisible thread to tie them to the hanger.
Then, Lena cut strips of crepe paper and taped them to the coat hanger. She had her ocean!
