If you're looking to kick up your arts and crafts a notch, one easy trick is to just make things BIGGER! I think a big roll of paper is an essential art supply, and my girls squeal with glee when I pull ours out. For this project, we made a big ole' tree and filled it with leaves and birds.

You'll need a giant roll of paper (here is ours), a pack of cheap sponges, scissors, paint (here is what we like to use), and paper plates.
You could make any project GIANT, but we made a tree with birds for our bird themed preschool week. Take your sponges, draw leaves and birds on them, and then cut out your shapes.
I spread out a sheet on the floor to protect our carpet, unrolled paper to cover the craft table, and prepared some paper plates with paint. Next I painted a simple tree form on the paper. It will be mostly covered up with paint anyway, so don't worry about how it looks!
Invite your children to the table and let them get to stamping!
My girls were inclined to stamp only near the plates of paint, so I had to remind them to cover the whole paper. They enjoyed mixing up several different shades of green and making up stories about the birds as they stamped.
This project was a bright, cheerful, glorious mess, and the girls and I loved every minute of it.
