Don't you just love all the great Easter crafts? Who ever knew there were so many ways to dye and decorate eggs! While we love dying Eggs just as much as the next family, sometimes I need something simpler, with no actual eggs, no mess, and no chance of spilling anything. These Basket Weave Easter Eggs are so simple to make, and easy to pull together. You probably have all the materials you need!
Paper weaving is a great activity to develop fine motor skills in young children. Your child not only has to work the tiny little muscles in their fingers, but they also have to concentrate on a pattern (over-under-over-under) while they do it.

Start by making a simple page or mat of woven paper in spring colors. For detailed instructions, see this post.
Once that's finished, use a glue stick to glue the woven paper onto a piece of cardstock. Lena did hers a little bit at a time, starting on one side and sort of rolling it down.
After the glue has dried, trace or draw simple egg shapes on the back of the cardstock. I printed this egg template from Activity Village, cut an egg out an egg, and traced it.
Let your child cut out the egg shapes. Look at that concentration!
There you have it. Make enough to fill a basket!
