This Halloween Sensory Bin has been a big hit in my house this week! My girls have been playing with it every day. It's great to pull out while I make dinner to keep them engaged and away from the television!

I've included Amazon affiliate links here for your convenience, but we were able to find all of our supplies at craft stores and the Target dollar section. Our Halloween Sensory Bin contains:
- black beans as a base*
- Halloween mini erasers
- mini Jack-o-Lantern buckets
- decorative glitter pumpkins
- googly eyes
- mini pumpkin table scatter
- pompoms
- spider rings
- buttons
*Raw beans contain toxins that can make you very sick if ingested. Be sure to supervise your children carefully.*
When I first gave this box to the girls, it looked like this:
All the extra stuff was already IN the beans. They played with it for a few minutes, but then got distracted and lost interest. I was disappointed; I thought it was so great! Then I realized that they were having trouble playing with it because there was TOO MUCH in the box! So the next time I gave it to them, I separated all the goodies out into little containers, like this:
They had a much better time playing with it, and kept at it for a long time. They pulled the little containers out and just used what they wanted.
For example, Lena made Halloween cupcakes by scooping and pouring the plain beans into a muffin tin and then using some of the extra items as decoration.
And don't forget, you can always climb IN the box, too!
Lena then poured all of the goodies on Maggie's feet and used it as "soap" to wash her. Wasn't that nice of her?
